Movement Medicine has changed my life. But how can dancing change anything, you might ask? First of all, it changed my belief that I can't dance, I am not good at moving. Finally I found a safe space, where I had permission to follow my body, my impulses, my intuition. I was able to connect with myself, for the first time. I have to admit, it was challenging to begin with, to come out of my comfort zone (I never used to dance sober, if I danced at all!)
We live in a culture full of comparisons, pretty pictures and idealistic photoshopped bodies, and as result we have become disembodied. And this practice invited me to shift my awareness from the self-consciousness of how I look, to consciousness within the body, how this body feels and wants to move.
I've learned that as humans we have an amazing ability to heal ourselves, given the right conditions and support.
I also began to appreciate that nature is the greatest teacher and healer. Watching nature brings me right to the present moment, while dancing with the elements is resourceful, grounding and joyous, being able to embody the waters, the fire, the air and the earth. At the end of the day, we are 60% of water, we breathe the air, we eat the fruit of the earth and we metabolise.
Throughout my life I have always been of service working with people, be it in the public sector as well as in a supportive setting, assisting people with autism condition to live a fulfilling and meaningful life. Now I love holding space for people and sharing this medicine, the simplicity of movement, breath, exploration and freedom.
I love creativity in all expressive forms. I also have a great passion for clowning and bringing joy. I believe that joy is a necessity in our ever-changing and challenging reality, hence why I have great interest in healthcare clowning and the power of laughter.
